Adaras Organic Wine: A Design Revolution

Estudio Maba's Innovative Approach to Wine Label Design

The design is a contemporary take on a traditional way of doing things. It is an upgrade of the elements, aiming to establish a proper dialogue in the wine market for a wine cellar that is respectful but modern. The unique properties of this design set it apart from others, with its synthesis of natural elements and a clear focus on the organic nature of the wine.

The realization of this design involved the use of a Tintoretto WS label, stamping, and volume varnish. The specifications of the design were tailored to fit 300mm x 80mm x 80mm Burgundy Wine bottles with a 150mm x 90mm label. The design was developed from September 2017 to February 2018 in Murcia, Spain.

The design research was based on the need for an update for Adaras organic wine range. The aim was to gain greater visibility than perceived from its previous label, creating a system which is consistent with the renewal of the winery's identity. The redesigned organic wine emblem is integrated into its graphic context, transmitting true, honest quality and fully representing the contents of the bottle.

The challenge was to find a whole graphic for this wine family that would show the unique character of each variety and also build a joint discourse. The result is a resounding design for an organic wine family, Adaras. The graphic symbols represent an exercise of synthesis on the natural elements of the earth on which the fruit grows and the hands of the men on them to became the liquid inside the bottle. The overall effect is a powerful, mysterious visual that invites you to know more about the content inside.

This innovative design has not gone unnoticed. It was awarded the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2019, a testament to its creative and professional excellence. The award is given to designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
